New York New York, A Wonderful Town!

GAH! John and I are going to NYC for our 10 year anniversary in October. I'm beside myself with excitement! This trip has been a long time coming. When we were "not-dating" as I called it (even though we really were, but I just wouldn't admit it), we started planning a NYC trip with a bunch of our singles ward friends. But almost a week into it is when we fell in love...then a week later got engaged. Yeah for Mormon love! Needless to say, the trip went out the window and we've been trying to get there ever since.

So, my OCD does me wonders in times like this. The entire itinerary (with times of the day, thank you very much) was planned in a couple of sleepless nights. What I need help with is places to eat. So, for all you hundreds (I mean, 6) people who read my blog, will you post me your dining suggestions if you've been to the Big Apple?

Oh, and speaking of NYC, I want to wish my sister-in-law, Libby, a happy Birthday today. Jimmy surprised her with a trip to NYC in a couple of weeks and I don't know anyone who gets more excited about that...and Wicked...as Libby. Have a great birthday; we love you!

What a fun trip! I wish I had good NY recommendations, but when we went with my family a few years ago, it was all cheap hot dog and pizza stands. Next time I go, I want to hit-up better spots. Have you heard of the web site chowhound.com? That site has never led me astray.

P.S. One of my buddies living out there constantly raves about the Shake Shack - I guess New Yorkers compare it to In-N-Out. That may be a fun stop?

So, I've never been to this restaurant but I hear it's a must...Serendipity. They have the famous 'worlds best hot chocolate icecream' and it's to die for.

My recommendation is for not attending....we went to Carnegie Deli and I must admit, it was a big let down. Last year when we were in NYC, we went there thinking we would love it for all of the culture and history. It was cool to see, but we ended up feeling really disappointed by the food.

We also went to the Olive Garden on Times Square, which I know sounds a little silly since we have Olive Garden here, but three-sides of the restaurant are glass windows so we sat and watched people the whole time we were eating. It was SO interesting to people-watch for an hour and imagine what their lives were like.

I am absolutely so jealous it hurts that you will be going to see “Wicked”. I was desperate to see it when we went to NYC, but didn’t get tickets (although we did see two other shows that we loved, “Jersey Boys” and “Drowsy Chaperone”). I have been wanting to see “Wicked” for a long time and they were supposed to be bringing it here in 2009, but the schedule changed and now I am still waiting. Darn. Maybe I’ll talk Alex into NYC again for our 5-year anniversary next June. :)

Have a great time!

I've only been once and it was in 4th grade- I think I remember the hot dogs on the street were awesome.
