Jude's Thursday Dish

I'm back! There is SO much to talk about, so let's dig in...

1.) Lost, my friends! Okay, we went home teaching and didn't get to start it until around 9:15 a.m. after Katie was in bed. For the first couple of hours before, I was kind of feeling like the comment my friend, Amelia, made on my last post and stopped getting so excited because it had been so long. I think it was just hard to believe it was finally back. But, only minutes into it, I was almost peeing my pants with excitement!

SPOILER ALERT -- read on if you haven't watched it and will...
LOVED the premiere, but I will say that it's going to take a while to get used to this new format. Very confusing at first. All the time jumping and going from character to character's storyline. But, it's still vintage Lost with the excitement and humor. Best line of the night: "Why is there a dead Pakistani on my couch?" Next best line: "Son of a.... flash of light.... b----!" Love that answers are coming together. It really is about time travel, not purgatory, nothing else. Love that Faraday is becoming more of a player. Love shirtless Sawyer. Bugged by Charlotte -- those nose bleeds aren't a good sign and maybe that means she's outta here. Loved the Ana Lucia appearance and the "Libby says hi!" line. Bugged by some of the super violent things - ew, the guy falling from the balcony? The guy falling on the knives? The Neal (Steve Bucsemi wannabe) Frogurt-guy-who-we've-never-seen-so-of-course-he'll-die getting fire thrown at him? Disturbing, but also in a morbid way very cool. Love new Bad A--- Sun. I can't wait to hear the fate of Jin. There is NO way he's gone for good. I heart Shih Tzus too, Hurley. The previews look wild. Didn't that look like Penny was having a baby? If she dies, I will be SOOO pissed. So anyway, there's all my random thoughts. What did my fellow Lost Lovahs think?

2.) Oscar nominations came out today. Laaaa! No real surprises, especially after the Golden Globes which by the way, my guesses were only so so. Actually, I'm happy I was wrong on Anne Hathaway. LOVED that Kate Winslet won twice. And she gushed over Leo. Is it wrong that I wish they were secretly together? SO annoyed by that nasty Mickey Rourke. And of course I didn't turn off my TV like I threatened. I thought is was AWESOME that girl from "Happy Go Lucky" won. Especially because she's in the new "Sense and Sensibility" that BBC put together. And as for TV, BOO! for Anna Paquin and Gabriel Byrne. And good lovin' for "30 Rock"! Okay, I digress. On to the Oscar noms. Pretty standard fare except there are some newbies in there which I always like. I just felt bad for Leo getting snubbed. He's totally underrated. I think "The Dark Knight" should have been nominated because I respect it was very well done. Can't wait for Brangelina to show up with their husband/wife nominations. Neither will win, but it's still cool. I like that Robert Downey Jr. got nominated for "Tropic Thunder" because I'm always happy when comedies break through. I read these while Katie was getting ready for school and she was totally annoyed with me that I said "Wall-E" would win over "Bolt", because in her words, "Bolt" has Hannah Montana in it. Sorry, Bug. "Wall-E" will win. Anyway, can't wait for the big night!

3.) I'm warning you now, I'm going to go off. I HATE CELEBRITIES AT THE INAUGURATION!!!! It drives me INSANE! It doesn't bother me if they were invited to perform like Aretha Franklin or Beyonce Knowles or any other performing artists. It's all the stupid celebs that show up for the events, because "oooh... I make music or movies and donated money, so I should get to go to everything and have VIP status" that bugs. It probably doesn't help that I watch show like "Access Hollywood" that only focus on that. But how lame. There's these celebs "front and center" in Oprah's words at the Inauguration like Usher, P-Diddy, Dustin Hoffman, Steven Spielberg and so on. Oh, and isn't Gayle the biggest 3rd wheel in the world? Poor Steadman. What about all the regular people who deserve the experience to? I watching one of the news shows and they were interviewing this older African American woman who rode the bus for 7 hours to get there and once they got there, they couldn't get in. But oooh, if you're a celeb, you can sit up front and attend any ball you want. So annoying.

4.) Amy Poehler's new tv show finally has details, just not a title yet. So, Amy is going to star as a mid-level bureaucrat in the Parks and Recreation department of some small town. It'll be documentary style and it's about her attempts to get promoted. She starts work on a project with Karen from "The Office" and I guess there she gets "humiliated" a lot. The premise doesn't sound exciting, but it all feels very Guffman to me, so I'm excited.

5.) New guilty pleasure. This is the kind like I ate a bunch of Twinkies and am totally ashamed about it kind of guilty pleasure. I watched "True Beauty" on a re-run showing on a Saturday night and I'm hooked. It is SO lame and the people are SO shallow, but it cracks me up. Now I'm Tivo-ing it. I think Ashton Kutcher is really on to something.

That's it for this week!

Ugh, I get bugged with celebrities at inauguration, too. I saw a picture of Justin Long (Mac guy) and Blake Lively at inauguration...crowded with everyone else. I appreciate that.

LOST. Oh I am so back into the show now. FINALLY an understandable time travel theory, thank you. Annoying Charlotte's going to die, thank you.
